Rosilee St. Nicholas
Rosilee was born in Peoria, IL to Richard and Elinor Stahl during a time of spiritual searching for the family. Elinor soon found peace by inviting Christ into her life and Richard was quick to follow. This set the guidelines under which Rosilee would be raised and established the underpinnings of her faith.
As early as the age of two Rosilee has clear recollections of leaning on her father’s shoulder and weeping at the sound of choir voices singing ,“Just as I am without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me”
Rosilee would spend hours alone in the basement with Jesus. There was a likeness of Jesus on the staircase wall and Rosilee would talk to Him for hours on end. She even played games with Him and because she loved Him so much she always let Him win. It was during these early years Rosilee developed a deep relationship with the Lord built on sweet spirit to Spirit communion. Rosilee emerged from these experienses with a strong sense of God’s overwhelming love for her.
At the age of five she accepted Jesus as her Savior, was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. It was at this time that God began to stir up the gift of music in Rosilee. She had a prodigical like ability to play musical instuments. She mastered the accordian, the keyboards, and the Hammond B3 organ with absoulutely no professional training.
During this time she also began to sing while playing at home and church. It was discovered that she had perfect pitch and a natural sense of rhythm and was soon playing the Hammond B3 in a predominately Afro-American church where she spent several years honing her skills, eventually becoming one of the choir’s primary directors.
As Rosilee exercised her talents it became clear that her voice was the diadem of her many musical gifts. Wrapped inside a size two, 100 pound frame was a very large soulful black R&B voice with a twang that is uniquely Rosilee’s. So at the age of 27 she recorded her first gospel albumn, “The Right Choice”.
By 1990 Rosilee had become disillusioned with the narrowness and rigidity of her religious denomination and their legalistic demands and decided to take her talents to the secular world. So in 1990 isolated, sheltered, naive Rosi did her first performance outside the church realm at, of all places, The Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD., one of the most extreme venues in the world. It was here that Rosilee met her future husband Nick St. Nicholas. Nick and Rosilee soon began their journey into a world Rosilee had never seen nor even imagined existed. Even though she was exposed to many lifestyles that did not represent her calling, she maintained her strong faith and belief in all the good in people and continued to Minister in Music.
In 1993 Rosilee and her fiance Nick partnered to start RAM Entertainment in order to record and produce Rosilee and other entertainers on their own record label. In 1993 Rosi recorded a contemporary country albumn featuring songs by Jerry Carriega.
After two top 10 gospel hits, "I Really Love You" and "I Am Not Ashamed", Rosilee has cut a cross-over country CD which rated Number One "Pick of the Week" for 19 weeks running on AudioNet; the Internet's primary music source.
Rosilee has previously appeared with Emmylou Harris, Tanya Tucker, Patty Loveless, the Marshall Tucker Band, and the Georgia Satellites just to name a few.
Country music has always welcomed the tried and the true...and sometimes, when a bright star twinkles just a little bit differently, they welcome that too. Such a star in found in Rosilee. She is as unmistakably different as she is country.
She sings country ballads that bring a lump to your throat, sings down home boot-thumpin' country with a beat that makes you want to make a dash for the dance floor.
So what makes Rosilee different? It's the sound. It's a voice that was honed in a church choir and seasoned on life's trail. And what makes her accepted by hard core country enthusiasts? She's real. When she smiles, her eyes light up. When she sings her country stories, you believe she's lived them...and she has.
Rosilee is "feel good people, feel good music." Rosilee is one of country's brightest new stars on the horizon. Rosilee is here to stay.Just as her bio is unfinished, Rosilee is still working hard to share her joy in Christ and give her Ministry In Music to as many people as she can. She has many new roads to travel and she will not travel them alone, He will always be by her side helping her to give of herself to those that are in need of His love.
If you ever have the chance to meet Rosilee, you will love her. She is a warm and loving powerhouse of soul and spirit that adds much to those lucky enough to know her.
